Azhar Chougle is the name. I started out with photography way back in 2005. It started out with meagre attempts stemming from the fascination with a Sony compact camera my mother purchased that year.
Like all fads, it faded completely, until 2006, during my ICSE board exams (Grade X). I had to wake up reasonably early to do my final revisions before each exam, and happened to wake up to a sunrise
outside my window each time.
I started shooting the sunrise, almost daily, and that's how this humble blog began. That same year I redeemed my birthday gift for a Sony DSC-R1. Since that year I've been
obsessed with photography.
Slowly this hobby of mine transformed into a passion. After completing Grade XII (majoring in Science, strangely) in 2008, I decided that photography is the only career choice for me.
In August 2008 I began my freshman year of my photography degree at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
During my first semester I worked exclusively in Black & White film for the first time. All of my work was done 'by hand' in the darkroom. I even developed the film myself.
I am currently in my second semester, and this time around its color film (again, 'hand-made' darkroom prints).
Well that concludes the history bit of it, on to the good stuff - the photography. I shoot an extremely wide range of subjects, both in India and New York. Everything from Macro to Landscape, from studio portraits to
street captures. You will find pretty much everything here. Sometimes traditional black and white, at other times full-blown digital art.
This blog isn't my concrete portfolio, instead it documents my experiments, adventures, travels and thoughts, and has evolved from a few pages to over 700 images, becoming India's most popular photoblog,
winning numerous awards and recognitions.
I value all my feedback, positive or negative, so please, type away your critique in the comments. Thank you for visiting.
